Wiedemann Lampe has collaborated with Planting Fields, a historic New York State Park, to create a refreshed brand identity and strategically-informed signage system. Planting Fields offers its visitors a unique combination of gardens, greenhouses, and historic buildings - but the site’s expansive layout and overlooked communications have left many of its features underexplored. Wiedemann Lampe’s partnership with Planting Fields aims to enhance the visitor experience by celebrating and more effectively disseminating the park's distinctive blend of natural beauty, rich history, and cultural significance.

Planting Fields’ new brand centres on the theme of "discovery". Wiedemann Lampe was responsible for designing a cohesive visual identity that integrates seamlessly with the park's natural environment, while also standing out as an inviting, characterful and informative intervention. The brand includes a refined logo, new typography, and vibrant colours inspired by both the park's greenery and its heritage.

But the key component of the project was the development of an intuitive and strategically-informed signage system for Planting Fields. The signs are designed to guide visitors through the park's various attractions to not only provide directional assistance but also share stories and details about the park's history and ecology, enriching the overall experience, through the three-part structure: “For Nature. For History. For Life.”

The brand is part of Planting Fields’ broader effort to modernise its offerings and engage with new audiences while preserving its historical significance. By combining functional design with new takes on engagement and storytelling, Wiedemann Lampe's work ensures that visitors leave with a deeper appreciation for the park's beauty and its value within New York’s cultural infrastructure.
